So I just finally finished reading Hellsing after procrastinating and waiting a good 2-3 months between just skimming through it, reading the prequel, and watching the amazing OVA.
Of course there's still some things I DUN GET, but I didn't see anything wrong with sharing my initial thoughts about the experience.
Now, if you haven't heard of Hellsing - well, most any anime fan should know the name and
this guy, arguably the big daddy of damn near any badass with guns to be created in anime and games in the last decade including but not limited to Vash the Stampede, Dante of Devil May Cry, and Beyond the Grave of Gungrave.
Interested? You can read
Hellsing at this lovely site, and when you're done with that check out its prequel,
Hellsing: The Dawn (and in this instance, it's actually best to read the prequel after the main series). Don't feel like reading? The
amazing OVA series,
Hellsing: Ultimate is available on youtube. Anime 'purists', please, don't knock the dubbing and give it a try - I don't think you get the British, German and Irish accents in Japanese, the voice work here is simply superb.
Warnings for the series include massive amounts of blood, gore, and violence on men, women and children, ridiculously hot jailbait ass all up in your face in
The Dawn, Hirano's inability to draw horses, a crazy sense of humor at inopportune times, Nazi fascists and religious fanatics, and so much gar your balls will drop
no matter who you are.
( Spoilers on the entire series and you can probably feel my hard-on through the screen. Also warning for inappropriate squee at adorable silent manry man-wolf-guy. )
